Hey guys! The official May update is out, so now I get to tell you a bunch of exciting new things!

First of all, as those of you on the mailing list found out in April, Brother and Stellamara are coming back this year. Stellamara first appeared last year, while Brother has played for us several times at the Henry Fonda theatre but weren't around last year. Additionally, the League of Steam will be joining us this year.

Now the exciting new bits.

Pre-Show Tickets Still Available

If you've already gotten your show tickets, consider also buying some pre-show tickets (http://www.labyrinthmasquerade.com/preshow.php). The pre-show, for those of you who don't already know, is an hour-ish-long event before the masquerade, each night, that involves a light dinner, special performances in an intimate setting, a champagne toast, and time with Lord Strider and some of the Sypher crew to get a close look at this year's masquerade and some of the inspiration that went into making it. We have more room than usual for the pre-show due to this year's larger venue, so tickets still remain!

Tickets Shipping Soon

We've gotten a lot of questions about when tickets will ship, so we're giving a formal answer - May 25th! Expect most tickets to arrive on or around the first week of June.

A Glimpse into Friday Night

The Goblin Engineer has filled our Court with wonder and light . Since his evolution one year ago, his workshop has grown and new discoveries have filled his days. His fame grows and strange observers now wander into our realms from distant lands and times to experience his marvels.

Even displaced time travelers like the League of Steam have found themselves interacting with this plucky tinkerer, wondering what new contraptions he will build for the Court exclusively for Friday night. A new Court from the misty glades appears within the Masquerade, driven by curiosity to see this strange goblin and his technology.

Meanwhile, the Queen of the Night waits for her gem to be returned. Stolen last year by one of the Sypher Guardsmen and lost in our estranged realms, she prepares her creatures to approach the gates between our worlds.

As I mentioned in my last post, you can become a bigger part of the story by following and interacting with the characters involved, or just watching quietly from the side.

New Room Block at the Omni

Our first block of hotel rooms has already sold out, but we've managed to add more rooms for you, so if you had some trouble obtaining your room at the Omni before, try again now!

Transportation and Parking

If you are staying at the Omni, we will provide free transportation from the hotel to the venue. If you will be driving to the venue yourself, we will also offer valet parking for $10, so you can hand your car off and go have a blast, no hunting for parking spaces necessary!

If you guys want to keep up with this year's storyline and characters before the ball, or simply want to get into the magic of the masquerade early this year (or just to get in on some of it, if you can't go at all), several characters from Sypher's court (and beyond) have taken up residence all over the internet.

On Twitter, the Tinkerer, our strange new goblin engineer, provides glimpses of his inventions and the strange new machines with which he is slowly populating the halls of the new venue and the court of Sypher: http://twitter.com/GoblinEngineer

On Myspace, the Lord Chamberlain, our harried gatekeeper, vents his frustrations on the adventures involved in preparing a new venue, the difficulty of herding goblins, and the impossibility of carrying on a straightforward conversation with evasive elves: http://www.myspace.com/183095360

Here on LiveJournal, the High Elves, stargazers from the west, prepare for their journey to Sypher's court. They are anxious to meet with the Tinkerer, as his creative mind holds the key to newer and better astronomical instruments, and with them new explorations of the stars. There have been strange movements in the night sky this year. . . : http://stargazerelf.livejournal.com/

And for you Facebook addicts, our Facebook fan page is right here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Labyrinth-of-Jareth-Masquerade-Ball/125190667491824
Enjoy!

Hey guys,

Anyone going to the pre-show this year? The tickets are a little sneakily hidden this time around, so if you had trouble finding them, here's a direct link: http://www.labyrinthmasquerade.com/preshow.php

If you're a first-year attendee and don't quite get what this pre-show thing is all about, don't hesitate to ask! If you're a longtime attendee, well... you may be pleasantly surprised by the evolution of pre-show over the years, and especially the exciting changes being made for this year due to the amazing new venue.

Just wondering if anyone from my neck of the woods (Seattle area) is thinking of going to LOJ this year?

I'm going (the last two years, I was at weddings instead. I am explicitly banning my friends from getting married LOJ weekend now!), but things might be complicated as there is a big ballroom competition nearby same weekend, which a bunch of my friends will be going to, so I might go down with them and juggle both events :-D

It's never simple :-/

Hey everyone,

Thanks to all who attended for a great show. It was a very good year. Photos are already storming the internet, but I'm going to wait until there's a huge number of them and post a big link list of every place you can find pictures. In the meantime, PLEASE feel free to post your photos! I love looking at all the different ways that different people see/experience the masquerade, since all the individual areas are so completely different and everyone always seems to have a favorite hang-out spot.

Hi everyone, just a quick round-up of updates:

Saturday night is SOLD OUT. There were a few Grande Packages left by which you could get Saturday tickets along with your Friday tickets, but those are gone too now. There are limited Friday tickets remaining. Don't miss out! Remember, Friday's theme is "the Goblin Clockwork," so steampunk fans will really want to catch it!

Gram Rabbit has been added to the line-up, performing on Friday night.

Pre-show tickets have yet to be released, so no, you didn't miss them. I know we're releasing them pretty late this year - sorry about that. Just keep in mind that back in my day, you young whippersnappers, we didn't even know what date LOJ was going to BE on until May. ^_^

It's happened again - the only wedding I'm going too this year (so far) has been re-scheduled over my LoJ weekend, and is being held in another state. (I try to tell people to never hold events on the second weekend of July, but it does no good.)

This will be the third consecutive year that I've missed LoJ due to events outside my control. I guess if this run of luck ever ends and I'm at last able to attend again, I'll be a stranger :-/

It was going to be really good this year - a double-night LoJ, plus a big ballroom dance competition at a resort a couple of hours away, happening over the same weekend. I was going head down to CA and kill two birds with one stone; compete during the days and join the masked revelry during the nights. But it was not to be. I'm pretty bummed. :-(

I'm starting to wonder what ridiculous coincidence is going to be thrown in my way July 2010 to keep me away. I'm guessing that on July 6 next year, there will be a zombie uprising in LA.
